Robison Wildlife Consulting has experience with many types of projects. Below are several representative projects including migratory bird nesting surveys, mortality surveys, baseline biological surveys, and noxious weed surveys.
Long Canyon Mine Opening for Newmont
Migratory Bird Nesting Surveys
Completed: April-May 2015
Robison Wildlife Consulting was the on-site biology team lead for the Newmont Long Canyon Mine opening. The project consisted of a pre-disturbance clearance survey for nesting migratory birds and raptors, establishment of buffers surrounding active nests, biological monitoring during disturbance activities, and conducting nest checks of active avian nests. The project spanned five weeks during the peak migratory bird breeding season and consisted of nearly 1200 acres of transect lines surveyed by four biologists.


West Pine Valley Seismic Project for Barrick Gold
Burrowing Owl and Ground Nesting Bird Surveys
Completed: May-June 2012
Robison Wildlife Consulting was the on site biology team lead for the Barrick Gold Corp. West Pine Valley seismic project. The project consisted of a pre-disturbance clearance survey for nesting migratory birds and raptors, establishment of buffers surrounding active nests, biological monitoring during seismic activities, and conducting nest checks of active avian nests. The project spanned five weeks during the peak migratory bird breeding season and consisted of nearly 600 miles of transect lines surveyed by five biologists.
Shamrock Communications
Mortality Surveys at Shamrock's 1460 foot Communications Tower
Completed: May 2013-April 2014
Robison Wildlife Consulting planned and conducted avian and bat mortality surveys for the Shamrock Communications tower. Mortality surveys were conducted every two weeks for one year, with monthly and annual reports prepared for the Bureau of Land Management, the Nevada Department of Wildlife, and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. Project specific searcher efficiency trials and scavenger rate trials were conducted.


Castle Blackrock Mine
Habitat Assessment and Wildlife Survey
Completed: May 2012
Robison Wildlife Consulting conducted a baseline level wildlife survey for the Golden Predator Castle Blackrock Mine project. Surveys included a habitat evaluation, special status species survey, species inventory, raptor survey, and greater sage-grouse survey. The survey was completed over a four day period for approximately 2,400 acres.
Florida Canyon Mine
Noxious Weed Surveys
Completed: June 2013, June 2014
Robison Wildlife Consulting assisted with noxious weed surveys for the Florida Canyon Mine and Standard Mine projects. One hundred percent coverage surveys were conducted within the Florida Canyon and Standard Mine Plan boundaries. Populations of noxious weeds were mapped as points or ploygons and subsequently treated. Follow-up surveys were conducted the following year to assess the effectiveness of the treatment.


South Lake Tahoe Sierra Tract PH 3&4 Errosion Control Project
Willow Flycatcher and Migratory Bird Nesting Surveys
Completed: June-July 2015
Robison Wildlife Consulting conducted pre-disturbance surveys for Willow flycatcher and migratory birds for the City of South Lake Tahoe. These surveys were conducted within the urban environment along the upper Truckee River.
Seneca and Rich-Storrie Burn Area Project for Plumas NF and Plumas Audubon Society
Norther Goshawk Surveys
Completed: July 2015
Robison Wildlife Consulting worked in conjunction with the Plumas Audobon Society and Plumas National Forest, to conduct Norther Goshawk surveys. These surveys were conducted within the Seneca and Rich-Storrie/Butt Valley burn areas.
